Jøa idrettslag

Jøa idrettslag (sports club) was founded on October 25, 1924. It is a multi-sport club that began with skiing and athletics. Over time, it expanded to include football, handball, orienteering, fitness groups, swimming, children’s all-sport activities, and disc golf. Jøa Stadium is located next to Jøa School and the multi-use building, Fyret.

Welcome to Jøa IL!

Jøa IL's stadium is situated next to Jøa School and the multi-use building, Fyret. The facility includes a club house and storage buildings, a grass football pitch, a tartan track for athletics, a running path around the sports area, a small football and basketball court with artificial turf, and a disc golf course with 6 baskets.

In collaboration with the school and community center at Fyret, there is access to playground equipment, a small ice rink in winter, and a sports hall measuring 30m x 20m. The building also houses an indoor miniature shooting range (Jøa Shooting Club) and a 12m x 8m swimming pool (managed by Namsos Municipality).

The sports club also maintains a lighted cross-country ski track and a ski hut at Hollonbakkan, northeast on the island. Jøa IL also operates Dunafjellhytta by Fosnesvatnet, an open cabin used by hikers both in summer and winter. Fosnesvatnet has a relatively large ice surface in winter.

The public health project "Jøatrappa and Eventyrstien" will be realized in the anniversary year 2024. It is set to open around September 1.

Eventyrstien, a 5 km mountain trail, is planned with double plank boardwalks, steps, 8 resting benches, and Jøatrappa itself, which will consist of approximately 900 wooden steps in the descent/ascent of Ramnfjellet in the west.
