Explore the New Jøatrappa
Jøa Sports Club (Jøa IL) and Tresteg AS upgraded Jøatrappa in early summer. The staircase has been extended by 98 steps and now consists of 1,030 steps. The number 1,030 is considered a significant number in Trøndelag!
In addition, safety improvements have been made, including double handrails on the steepest sections. New boardwalks (double planks) with handrails have also been installed across Ramnfjellaksla and up to the viewpoint to reduce the risk of slipping and to help protect the surrounding nature. Jøatrappa, known as the heart staircase of the Namdalen region, is now even better. We warmly welcome you, and we encourage you to bring your family and friends!
Planning a weekend visit to Jøa?
Friday evening:
Enjoy a good meal and a hike in Jøatrappa. If you have time, you can also play a round of disc golf or take part in other activities at Jøa Stadium.
Saturday:
Enjoy another great meal and hike the entire Fairy Tale Trail (Eventyrstien), a scenic 5 km route. With a packed lunch, the trip usually takes 3–4 hours. You may also want to visit Olav Duun's childhood home, Janheim / Tranås Iron Age Farm, or the local pub Fjøsti.
Sunday:
Treat yourself to another good meal before cycling around Jøa. In addition to the main roads, we recommend visiting Rakkavika and its viewpoint, Nordveien / Kjerkstien, the Myrveiene trails (home to the Peat Museum), Leirvika (Anton Beach), Hollonbakka, and our 24-hour Joker grocery store.
Jøa is a true gem on the Namdal coast!
